Emily Nagel. Team AkzoNobel.
Emily has raced for Britain at European and World Championships level. In 2015, she led an otherwise all-male British University Sailing Association team to victory on a tour of the USA – and later joined Team BDA, the Bermudan entry in the Youth America's Cup. In 2016, she raced an F4 foiling catamaran from New York to Bermuda as part of a crew led by Jimmy Spithill. She later worked for Softbank Team Japan in the design department – which is where she first met AkzoNobel skipper Simeon.
Turn the Tide on Plastic. Bleddyn Mon.
The only Welsh sailor in the 2017-18 edition, Mon joins the Volvo Ocean Race fresh from being part of Land Rover BAR in the 2017 America's Cup. In his teenage years, he became a World and European champion in the 29er class – and with plenty of Extreme Sailing Series experience to his name at just 25, he brings top-level racing credentials to Turn the Tide on Plastic.
Turn the Tide on Plastic. Lucas Chapman
Although he's a Volvo Ocean Race rookie, Lucas has bags of experience across many different types of boat. He's completed the Sydney-Hobart five times and spent many hours onboard the Volvo Ocean 65s completing delivery trips and corporate sailing in the build up to the 2017-18 edition.
Vestas 11th Hour Racing. Hannah Diamond.
Diamond, who started racing aged nine, is a Volvo Ocean Race rookie but she has bags of experience inshore. Much of that has been in the Nacra 17 class, in which she won a silver medal at the World Championships in 2013.
Turn the Tide on Plastic. Bianca Cook.
She might be a Volvo Ocean Race rookie but Bianca has significant experience offshore, racing big boats and accumulating over 70,000 offshore miles in the last few years, most recently as second mate on board the superyacht Hetairos.
