Bouwe Bekking. Team Brunel.
Bouwe returns to the race which has been his life's obsession for 30 years with an eighth attempt at winning the trophy in 2017-18. Having twice finished runner-up and skippered two campaigns, he is more eager than ever to win – and with a Dutch team.
Previous Volvo Ocean Races:
2014-15 Team Brunel
2008-09 Telefónica Blue
2005-06 movistar
2001-02 Amer Sports One
1997-98 Merit Cup
1993-94 Winston
1985-86 Philips Innovator
Mark Towill. Vestas 11th Hour Racing.
Towill combines his role as de facto co-skipper on the boat with looking after the business side of the on-shore operation. That doesn’t leave a lot of room for down-time, but if he does ever get a free day you’ll likely find this Hawaiian native kite surfing or paddle boarding.
