Jules Salter. Team AkzoNobel.
Universally recognised as one of the world’s best racing navigators, Jules was born on the Isle of Wight and grew up racing on the capricious waters of the Solent. Inspired by the teams from around the world who came to Cowes for premiere events like the Whitbread Race and Admiral’s Cup, he soon became a familiar face on the international yacht racing scene. Jules has three Volvo Ocean Races to his name, including a win in 2008-09 with Ericsson Racing sailing with Brad and Joca. This will be his first race around the world in identical one-design boats – a welcome new challenge that he believes will make the race all the more exciting.

Blair Tuke. MAPFRE.
It’s been a whirlwind 12 months for Tuke, who scooped gold alongside long-time sailing partner Peter Burling in the 49er class at the Rio Olympics (his second medal having won silver at London 2012), then followed up with an historic America’s Cup win as a key part of Emirates Team New Zealand just 10 months later. Not bad for a 28-year-old – and now, the six-time world champion has turned his attention to an all-new challenge: the Volvo Ocean Race with MAPFRE. Can he become the first sailor in history to win sailing’s Triple Crown of the Olympics, the America’s Cup and the Volvo Ocean Race?
