Tony Mutter. Vestas 11th Hour Racing.
A five-time race veteran, Mutter has won the Volvo Ocean Race twice – onboard ABN AMRO ONE in 2005-06 and Ericsson 4 in 2008-09. He then returned in 2011-12 as part of PUMA Ocean Racing, and became part of the Comanche programme, working as watch captain onboard as the 100ft super-maxi broke a number of world speed records. After taking an edition off in 2014-15, where he admits that he struggled to accept watching it from shore, he's back in the race for 2017-18 – and adds decades of elite experience to Vestas 11th Hour Racing.

Damian Foxall. Vestas 11th Hour Racing.
There’s not much that five-time Volvo Ocean Race veteran and passionate ocean conservationist Damian Foxall hasn’t done when it comes to sailing. He won the Volvo Ocean Race as part of Groupama in 2011-12, set a round-the-world speed record onboard G-Class catamaran Cheyenne, and took victory in the two-handed Barcelona World Race in 2008, adding all that to his record as the first ever non-French entry to grab a leg win at the Solitaire du Figaro in 1997. Now, he returns to the toughest test of a team in professional sport looking to lift the trophy for a second time.

Mark Towill. Vestas 11th Hour Racing.
Towill combines his role as de facto co-skipper on the boat with looking after the business side of the on-shore operation. That doesn’t leave a lot of room for down-time, but if he does ever get a free day you’ll likely find this Hawaiian native kite surfing or paddle boarding.

Vestas 11th Hour Racing. Charlie Enright.
Rhode Island native Charlie Enright returns to the Volvo Ocean Race for a second consecutive edition following a debut campaign as skipper of Team Alvimedica in 2014-15. He made his name starring in the Disney movie 'Morning Light' alongside long-term sailing partner Mark Towill, and now the pair lead Vestas 11th Hour Racing in a joint mission to win the Volvo Ocean Race and promote sustainability.

Vestas 11th Hour Racing. Hannah Diamond.
Diamond, who started racing aged nine, is a Volvo Ocean Race rookie but she has bags of experience inshore. Much of that has been in the Nacra 17 class, in which she won a silver medal at the World Championships in 2013.

Vestas 11th Hour Racing. Phil Harmer
A race winner in the last two editions – with Groupama in 2011-12 and Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing in 2014-15 – Harmer has a shot at an extraordinary hat-trick. The Aussie sailor initially entered the race in 2005-06 with Brunel, taking part in a few legs, before returning for his first full lap of the planet with Green Dragon in 2008-09. That was where he hooked up with Ian Walker, who would eventually bring him into the successful Abu Dhabi campaign two editions later.

The man universally known as SiFi makes his fifth Volvo Ocean Race appearance in 2017-18 – and returns to the race a winner, having won the trophy onboard Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing in 2014-15. He was previously the navigator for Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing in 2011-12, Telefónica Blue in 2008-09 and ABN AMRO TWO in 2005-06. He also sailed two America’s Cup in 2001 and 2006 – and he brings a lot to a team he knows well.

Vestas 11th Hour Racing. Roberto Bermudez de Castro Muñoz.
Best known by his childhood family nickname of 'Chuny', he is one of Spain’s most famous ocean racers. His tally of six Volvo Ocean Races over 25 years, including a spectacular win with Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing in the 2014-15 edition, has earned him a well-deserved place in the race’s history books. Onboard the boat, Chuny’s obsession for maximum performance means he can never sit still as he constantly trims and tweaks the sails in an effort to squeeze out every last drop of boat speed.

Vestas 11th Hour Racing. Tom Johnson.
Johnson quickly rose through the elite ranks of 49er and moth sailing before making a leap into the Volvo Ocean Race with Team Vestas Wind in 2014-15. When their race came to an abrupt halt in the Indian Ocean on Leg 2, he joined up with Team ORACLE USA in the America's Cup as a wing trimmer. Now he's back onboard a Volvo Ocean 65 and eager to shine.

Vestas 11th Hour Racing. Nick Dana
Who he is: This is Nick's fourth Volvo Ocean Race experience, although he has only raced in two of them. His first, in 2008-09, saw him work on shore for PUMA Ocean Racing, and in 2011-12 he went offshore as an Onboard Reporter on Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing. His first experience as a crew member came in 2014-15 on Team Alvimedica, and he returns for a second consecutive sailing campaign with Vestas 11th Hour Racing. Dana grew up tinkering with boats at his family's shipyard in Rhode Island and has been racing professionally for nearly all of his adult life, winning prizes on all types of boat.
